Spring 2026 Graduate Student Seminar Series

April 17, 2026

This spring, the Baylor Mathematics Graduate Student Seminar Series brought students together through two events focused on student research and professional development, including guidance on job applications.

Research Preview (March 18, 2026)

Several graduate students spoke about their experiences conducting research in our graduate program. Each presenter described how they met their current supervisor and what working with that person is like, then offered an accessible but technical introduction to their research area. The event gave new graduate students a preview of the research environment in the department. Presenters: James Kessinger (Complex Analysis), Katie Harveson (Applied Math), Michael Walton (Algebra), and Maricela Ramirez (Real Analysis).

Job Documents (April 17, 2026)

Attendees visited four stations, each hosted by a graduate student who had recently completed job applications. These upper-level students shared example application documents and advice on the application process.
