Homecoming Thoughts
This was the first Baylor Homecoming parade that I have attended. I’ve been at Baylor for almost 18 years… so this seems like a shameful admission. Actually, for many of those years, I was chair of the department, and we hosted a Homecoming breakfast in the math department for our math alumni.
This year, I wanted to experience a Homecoming Parade. And I was not disappointed!! I was pleasantly surprised to see so many floats – including one from our Möbius math club – taking part in this long-time Baylor tradition. How wonderful that Baylor can claim the longest running Homecoming parade in the country!
I extend my sincere gratitude to Steve Cates, Senior Lecturer in Mathematics (and the Senior Advisor for Möbius), faculty colleague Jameson Graber (Möbius Advisor), student Chloe Povey-Rowe (President of Möbius), student Nick Jones (Vice President of Möbius), and several other Möbius members and faculty, who took part in the hand-waving and candy-throwing during the parade. Special thanks to Chloe’s husband, Michael, for providing the truck and trailer bed that was transformed into a beautiful float! What fun!!
